Times report is wrong

Eleanor Laing is furious that The Times have today published a letter purporting to be from her. The letter was written by Claire Curtis-Thomas MP and supported by several female MPs. Mrs Laing understands that the inclusion of her name was an error on the part of Mrs Curtis-Thomas and The Times, and other newspapers who reported the story, have now removed any reference to Mrs Laing.

Eleanor Laing has never suggested that MPs should have special treatment. She is well aware that thousands of women in her own constituency of Epping Forest travel home late at night and is constantly in touch with London Underground, for example, to discuss ways of improving safety on public transport.

For information, Mrs Curtis-Thomas' letter is published here.
