Students at Debden Park High School were able to ask questions of Dame Eleanor Laing MP when the Epping Forest Member of Parliament joined them for a digital surgery through The Politics Project.

The Politics Project works with schools to connect students with their elected representatives through its Digital Surgeries programme.

The Debden Park students were able to discuss the role of an MP and the work Dame Eleanor undertakes to represent them in Parliament.

The one-hour 'surgery' was conducted entirely through video conferencing.

Dame Eleanor said: "The students asked really good questions about various political and local issues. They are inspiring and intelligent and I look forward to seeing them flourish as students.

"I asked them about their views regarding whether their exams should take place next year and I look forward to receiving their views on the matter in due course."
