A team from Davenant Foundation School won this year's Epping Forest Schools Parliamentary Debating Competition held by Epping Forest MP Dame Eleanor Laing.
This year's competition - the first since the Covid pandemic - was held at Chigwell School and saw the school teams debate either for or against the Motion that “This House believes that the internet brings more harm than good”.
The Davenant Foundation School team of Year 12 students Martin Prinsloo and Osaru Ayanry were one of the schools chosen to speak against the Motion.
Runners-up were the Chigwell School team of Year 12 students Manrah Atwal and Arya Misra who were speaking for the Motion.
Debden Park High School student Jayda Linklater was also highly commended for her contribution.
Dame Eleanor said: "It was a pleasure to be able to see the competition return this year and once again it was an evening filled with parliamentary-style debating.
"All the teams spoke with passion and enthusiasm whether they were speaking for or against the Motion. As we have seen in previous years, I am sure that we have some very promising potential future parliamentarians in our local schools."
